How the Dressmaker Game Works

The gameplay is built around a simple but engaging design process. You can combine bodices, sleeves, and skirts while experimenting with different shapes and fabrics. There are 10 outfit patterns and 30 fabrics, providing plenty of combinations to discover.

Your main activities include:

• Meet customers: Listen to characters such as Mara, Inez, and Rowan to understand their stories and outfit requirements.
• Design and cut: Select fabrics and clothing pieces, then adjust edges by dragging points or making freehand cuts.
• Fit and finish: Assemble the garment and stitch it together before refining its shape through the fitting conversation.
• Keep or sell: Add your favorite creations to your personal wardrobe or sell finished outfits through the in-game shop.

The cutting system makes the game especially interesting because the final garment retains the edges you create. This means your decisions directly influence the appearance and fit of each dress.

Build Your Own Fashion Collection

The Dressmaker experience becomes more open-ended as you progress. The game features nine authored commissions and repeat visits from customers, giving you different occasions to design for. Completing the introductory commissions for Mara, Inez, and Rowan unlocks free design and off-the-rack sales.

Free mode is ideal for players who simply want to experiment. You can mix unlocked clothing pieces, try different fabrics, and create outfits without having to follow a specific customer request.
